Screen Content

• Your screen content is captured and converted to video frames
• Frames are compressed and transmitted only to devices on your local network
• No screen content is stored permanently on your device
• No screen content leaves your local network
• No recording or saving of screen content occurs

Audio Content

• Microphone audio is captured and processed in real-time during broadcasts
• Audio is compressed and transmitted only to devices on your local network
• No audio content is recorded or stored permanently on your device
• No audio content leaves your local network
• Audio streaming stops automatically when broadcast ends
• Users have full control over microphone gain levels (-60dB to +12dB)
• Microphone can be effectively muted by setting gain to -60dB

Network Information

• Your device's local IP address is displayed in the app for connection purposes
• Network information is used only for local WiFi communication
• No network data is transmitted outside your local network

Device Permissions

Microphone Access

• Purpose: To capture and transmit audio during screen broadcasting for enhanced musical collaboration
• Usage: Records audio only when screen broadcasting is active
• Scope: Audio is transmitted only to devices on your local WiFi network
• User Control: Microphone gain can be adjusted from -60dB (muted) to +12dB via in-app slider
• Automatic Management: Microphone activates only when broadcast extension starts and deactivates when broadcast stops
• No Recording: Audio is streamed live and not recorded or stored on device
• Apple Privacy Description: "ChordCaster uses your microphone to transmit audio during screen sharing sessions for musical collaboration."

Local Network Access

• Purpose: To broadcast screen content and audio to other devices on your WiFi network
• Usage: Creates a local server for receiving connections from web browsers
• Scope: Limited to devices connected to the same WiFi network
• Apple Privacy Description: "ChordCaster needs access to your local network to allow musicians to connect and view your screen."

Screen Recording

• Purpose: To capture and share your screen content with connected devices
• Usage: Converts screen content to video frames for streaming
• Scope: Only active when you start broadcasting from Control Center
• Storage: No permanent storage - frames are transmitted live and discarded

Background Audio (VoIP)

• Purpose: To maintain audio streaming capability during screen broadcasting sessions
• Usage: Enables continuous audio transmission while app runs in background during broadcasts
• Scope: Only active during screen broadcasting sessions for real-time musical collaboration
• Limitation: Background audio processing stops when broadcast session ends
• Apple Privacy Description: "ChordCaster uses background audio processing to maintain real-time audio streaming during musical collaboration sessions."

Data Security

Local Network Only

• All data transmission occurs exclusively on your local WiFi network
• No data is sent to external servers or the internet
• No cloud storage or remote servers involved

Temporary Processing

• Screen frames are processed in device memory only
• No permanent files created or stored
• Data is discarded immediately after transmission

No Third-Party Services

• No analytics services (Google Analytics, Firebase, etc.)
• No advertising networks
• No crash reporting services
• No cloud storage services

Children's Privacy

ChordCaster does not collect any personal information from users of any age. The app is safe for children to use as:

• No data collection occurs
• No internet connectivity required
• No user accounts or registration
• Local network use only

International Users

Since ChordCaster operates entirely on local networks without internet connectivity or data collection, there are no international data transfer concerns.

Changes to Privacy Policy

Technical Implementation

Local WebSocket Server

• Runs only on your device's local IP address
• Accessible only to devices on the same WiFi network
• Automatically stops when app is closed
• No external connections or internet access

Frame Processing

• Screen capture uses Apple's ReplayKit framework
• Video compression performed locally on device
• Frames transmitted via standard WebSocket protocol
• No proprietary or custom encryption algorithms

Web Client

• Simple HTML/JavaScript client served locally
• No external scripts or resources loaded
• No cookies or local storage used for tracking
• Connection limited to same local network

Your Control

• Broadcasting Control: You control when screen sharing starts and stops
• Microphone Control: You control microphone gain levels and can mute by setting to -60dB
• Permission Management: You can revoke microphone access in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone
• Network Access: You can deny local network access in iOS Settings
• Connection Management: You can see and manage connected devices
• App Deletion: Uninstalling the app removes all local data
